Red World
The Story
It has been several decades since humanity discovered the secret of faster than light travel. We have visited our local neighbourhood, yet despite our best efforts have found no trace of life anywhere, not so much as a single amoeba.
Scientists on Earth have identified a potential habitable world around a red giant sun which is within reachable distance.
A small team and three ships have been sent to investigate this world, you are aboard the first to arrive - the Intrepid Fox research vessel.
About
This is my second story, it's more complex than my last one, and should take about thirty minutes to play. In this one I test the idea of having two story threads - a kind thread and an angry thread. The kind thread has a companion that can follow you about unseen helping out by fighting the odd nasty monster. Otherwise the threads are the same, there are two possible endings.
The basic idea is to convey the mood of an ancient world that has been lost to time and is in it's final stages under a huge dying red sun.
How to Play
This is a click button adventure game so no typing needed!
During the game the buttons under the description are your options, there is always a Hyper option, this is to access these game settings and help during play.
The Return button takes you back to your game.
The Save button saves the current state of your game. You can only have one saved game.
The Load button loads your previously saved game.
The Inventory button shows what you are carrying and your current score.
Remember that just like in life - if something does not work the first time, try again a few times. Some events are driven by random generators. If you have to fight, the outcome is also determined by a roll of the dice.
